Zirconium oxide grinding satellites are used to homogenize tissues when stainless steel is impractical.  Resistant to oxidation in extraction buffers such as TRI Reagent and Trizol, Ceria stabilized Zirconium Oxide satellites have a greater density than zirconium silicates and glass media with each satellite having a mass of 0.7 gm.  Resistant to oxidation in phenol, unlike stainless steel grinding balls, zirconium oxide balls are durable and more dense than glass and zirconium/silicate oxides.  Furthermore, Ceria stabilized Zirconium Oxide satellites are the most wear resistant and hardest form of zirconium oxide.   The satellites are reusable and provided in packages of 1000 satellites.
